Chowking and their Web Mistake

in Uncategorized

I could not understand how come a Philippine restaurant, Chowking, have to make a complicated and full flash design of their website which derail people from getting the information they want. I have a fast internet and despite that look at the picture below.
Chowking Loading
I ended up at Yellow Cab

All I want is to see their menu and telephone for their delivery services. I am starving and couldn’t wait for their website to load; instead I went to Yellow Cab and had my meal ordered for delivery. The amount of time it took me to locate the Yellow Cab delivery phone number and had my order taken was equivalent to the amount of time the Chowking website loaded.
I wished the Chowking website had their phone number in the front page. I wished their menu had an html fast version. I wished their phone number and menu was on the same page. I wished the information I needed was presented fast enough.
I wonder who their consultant was for their website. I wonder who their IT decision makers are. I wonder if they ever thought about their audience.
Key Takeaway
It doesn’t matter how good your presentation or report is. What matters is having the information clear and quick to your audience. A customer or a boss who normally has little time needs to see the important things at the top. They should be concise and straight to the point; otherwise, they end up spending their limited time elsewhere.

  1. YES, I ALSO JUST GET THE PHONE NUMBER, FROM THIS FUCK UP PAGES, AND WAT I GET IS, ”
SSIR SORRY FOR THAT, WE NOT DELIVERY TO RCBC PLAZA, BECAUSE SUNDAY CLOSED!”SHIT CHOW KING

  2. Well that’s so sad. It took me about 3 to 4 seconds to load, and I tell you, it is worth the wait ! Their food is superb.

  3. “What matters is having the information clear and quick to your audience.”
big companies like chowking believes on the ideas of a CD (creative director) from ad agencies compared to web designers only for one reason – they think of the presentation than the friendliness of the website and that’s one factor why web designers clashes with agency staffs.
Flashy websites are very attractive to people however there are lots of disadvantages – page do not load easily as it downloads the file, difficult to navigate, saving of pictures is not allowed, you cannot highlight the content and copy it and etc.
Before creating a concept always think about the users because most of them are sure customers.

  4. hah! haven’t you heard about their latest blunder! together with yehey.com, they just made a major marketing blunder. their was a chowking promo where people upload pictures while enjoying their congee to a yehey provided site.guess what, 4-5 days before the deadline, the site was down.and no one could upload any more pix.worst is no apologies or fixes were given by both companies. see “http://www.soulcast.com/post/show/148609/Chowking-Congee-Photo-Contest” for more info. I tried the congee, loved it, thought of getting another congee, experienced SHIT while uploading, then was treated like shit. and no news from them. SHIT!

  5. same comments as Milo. couldn’t get the infos i need from their website. and it took me a long time to open it. i just wanted their number and their email address since i wanted to email the bad service I got from their branch at Nlex (north bound, Mega-Station, San Felipe). very, very rude manager they got there. how did he get into that position when he doesn’t know how to give good service? his crew doesn’t even know what his real name is. they gave out different names. we can’t confirm what the real name is since the manager covers his nameplate with his necktie. sorry, i got carried away, i just wanted to comment on the website. there’s more to my story, though.
